3. What are my shipping options and costs?
US deliveries are shipped via UPS. International deliveries are shipped via US Global Priority Mail. Click here for additional information about our shipping rates.
4. Is there a difference between the DVD version of a video and the VHS version?
DVD video is by nature of its format of higher resolution and better viewing quality than VHS video. For this reason, and because all of our DVDs have helpful interactive menus with chapter selections, we recommend the DVD format if you have access to a DVD player. However, our VHS tapes are still of the highest quality, and there is no difference whatsoever in the actual content presented in the two formats.
5. How do I view the video clip previews of your programs?
Next to each product description there is a "View Clip" link. Simply click on this link for the movie you would like to preview, and follow the online instructions. If you are on a high-speed internet connection, you'll probably want to choose one of the higher quality previews to watch; but if you are on a modem connection we recommend one of the low speed version, so you won't have to wait long. After selecting the desired format and quality, the movie will automatically start playing in your browser window.
5.5. When I click on any of the video clip previews nothing happens. Why?
Chances are, you have an active, pop-up blocker feature. In order for you to view our video clips, you'll have to temporarily deactivate the pop-up blocker.
6. Is it safe to order by credit card on your website?
Yes. We use a secure SSL server hosted by Yahoo!, which encrypts all information submitted through the Internet, eliminating any security problems. Your information is confidential and handled with total discretion. For more information, please see our security policy.
7. Is my personal information kept confidential?
Your information is confidential and handled with total discretion. We will never sell, rent or give customer information to any company, third-party or individual. Click here to view our complete privacy policy.
8. Can I bill my order to one address but ship it to another?
Yes. Simply fill out the different "ship to" address when prompted at the beginning of the checkout process. This is a good way to send our products as gifts to friends and relatives.
9. Will I see the total price, including shipping, before agreeing to the order?
Yes. The checkout process will always show you a grand total including shipping before you finalize your order.
10. Am I allowed to make your videos available at a public or school library, or to show them to a class?
Absolutely. We encourage the use of our programs in the classroom and at public libraries. All Five Star Educational titles are sold with limited public performance rights, including categories #1 and #2, which allow public and school libraries to carry our titles and show our programs to any group in a school, public library, prison or military base without further written permission from Five Star Educational. However, no direct or indirect fees may be charged for showing any of our programs. Our programs may neither be broadcast, duplicated or reproduced for any purpose, nor digitally or electronically delivered on any network unless prior written permission is obtained from Five Star Educational.
More specifically, the purchase of any Five Star Educational video product confers limited public performance rights, categories #1 and #2, but not category #3.
Category #1--YES!
Allows public libraries and schools to lend video materials to the public, and to exhibit videos on their premises for the purpose of school and library classes, promotions and exhibits.
Category #2--YES!
Allows schools, libraries or any purchaser to show the videos to non-profit groups or organizations, such as civic clubs, Girl/Boy Scout groups, community organizations, retirement groups, etc.
Category #3 -- NO.
Allows any purchaser to use our videos in connection with for-profit activities; for example, in connection with business promotions, at conventions and seminars or privately sponsored academic courses; or by charging a fee for the viewing of these programs. Category #3 rights may only be conferred by prior written permission from Five Star Educational. If you are interested in these rights, please contact us to negotiate a reasonable fee.
11. How can I contact your company?
You can contact our company by email, phone or by mail. Click here to contact us.
12. Do I need to add sales-tax?
You do not need to add sales-tax, unless you reside in or are doing business in the State of Georgia, in which case you need to add 6% sales-tax.
13. Can I order from your company if I live outside the US?
Yes. Please note, however that all of our VHS videos and DVDs are recorded in the NTSC format, which is used in the United States, Canada, Mexico, Japan and most of South America. VHS videos in the NTSC format will not play on most machines in other overseas locations, including Europe and Asia that use the PAL, SECAM or other standard.
However, almost all DVD players sold in PAL countries today will play our NTSC formatted DVDs. In fact, our NTSC DVDs will play on over 95% of DVD systems worldwide. However, to be sure, please check with your manufacturer's literature before ordering.
Also, nearly all DVDs recorded in both the NTSC and PAL formats will play on any computer DVD drive. To add to your convenience, upon request, we normally email permission for you to make a PAL version VHS or DVD from our original. We do not accept returns due to format incompatibility.
Also, international customers please note that you are responsible for any additional international shipping costs including local customs, duties, and taxes determined by your country. For more information, please see our shipping Information.
14. Are your videos available in the PAL or SECAM format?
No, they are not. Depending upon further input we receive from international customers, we may in the future make our titles available in the PAL format.
